In the initial exploratory phase, our focus was on pushing the boundaries of creativity to reimagine how users interact with Grammarly's AI assistant. This stage was all about generating out-of-the-box ideas that could break away from traditional chatbot paradigms.
Following our exploratory phase, we collaborated with Grammarly's internal team to align on a unified direction using the designs their team was already developing. This ensured the final approach was consistent with Grammarly's evolving vision.

The Grammarly assistant captures your unfiltered thoughts and turns them into effective communication. It recognizes your context and helps you refine your feedback as well as highlight specific design elements, enabling you to provide precise, actionable input.
The project's scope grew as we mapped out how Grammarly should function across short-form and long-form writing. The complexity of addressing various user intents—correcting, refining, or generating—became a key challenge that influenced our design systems and interaction models.
